Jo Beth is proud to be one of the few women sole proprietors of piano stores in the country. Her business philosophy is simple: Treat every customer like a treasured guest in your home, and make certain that they leave happy. Jo Beth was recently recognized as a Steinway Premiere Dealer. Over the course of her career, she received the Yamaha Touchstone Award for excellence in customer service for 10 consecutive years and the Yamaha VIP Dealer award for overall excellence and community service for 3 consecutive years.
For over 20 years, Paul has been helping people succeed in becoming lifelong piano players. He is a piano enthusiast who has toured piano factories overseas and in the U.S., including those of Steinway, Yamaha, Mason & Hamlin, and Baldwin and received training from over a dozen manufacturers. Paul is an advocate for music education and actively supports both the New York State Music Teachers Association and the Piano Technician's Guild. He currently serves as President of the Capital District Council for Young Musicians.
Scott has served as Technical Service Manager for all Artist Pianos locations since 1997 and as Manager of the Syracuse store since 2009. He received technical training from the Manhattan School of Music and later performed piano preparation for Baldwin's Concert and Artist Division in New York City. Scott holds some of the highest credentials in his field, having attended C. F. Theodore Steinway Academy as well as Yamaha University technical training.
Dane began taking classical piano lessons when he was just 5 years old, eventually developing a talent and affinity for jazz and contemporary music. He performed with jazz ensembles in high school and through his college education at SUNY Geneseo. Dane recently graduated from Steinway University, where he toured the famous Steinway Factory in Astoria, NY and received in-depth knowledge about the history, design, and production of Steinway pianos.
Daniel is a classically trained pianist and violinist who currently performs as a violinist with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Catskill Symphony Orchestra and the Sound Symphony and West Islip Symphony Orchestras in Long Island as well as pit orchestras and ensembles for various music, theater, and operatic productions. Daniel holds a Bachelor's degree in Music industry from SUNY Oneonta and is earning a Master's degree in Music Education Studies at University of Buffalo.
Jonathan is a professional piano technician with over 20 years of experience. He services the pianos of many prominent area venues, including Troy Music Hall and Proctor's Theater and oversees the inventory at Artist Pianos, Latham. Jonathan attended Berklee College of Music and has received specialized STEINWAY & SONS training and attended the Yamaha Little Red School House technical school.
Alex joined our technical service staff in 2014, performing new piano preparation, tuning, regulation, and action restoration. In addition to his private tuning clientele, he services the inventory for schools like SUNY Cortland. An accomplished bassist, Alex holds a degree in music from Onondaga Community College and performs regularly at area music venues. His keen musical ear and attention to detail makes him a valuable asset to Artist Pianos and an excellent resource for our clients.
A musician since 1984 and twice nominated for a local music award, Brian is a songwriter, guitarist, lyricist and arranger. With over a decade of electronics repair experience, Brian has transposed his repair skills to piano technology, preparation, maintenance and repair. A long-time friend and band mate of Scott Schroeter, he is a welcome addition to the Artist Pianos family.
In his long career Kenneth has been fortunate to tune for some famous musicians including Tony Bennett, James Taylor, Donnie Milsap, Don Henley, the Eagles, Barry Manilow, and many more. Kenneth graduated with two diplomas: a New York State Regents diploma and a Piano Tuning Certificate from the New York State School for the Blind in Batavia, New York. He has been a Craftsman member of the Piano Technicians Guild since 1967, and he was one of the Guild's original Certified Tuning Examiners.
Brian Axford is an accomplished musician with a broad range of performance experience including solo and ensemble work, serving as accompanist for stage plays and church choirs, and numerous recording projects. He holds a Master of Music from Rutgers University and a Bachelor of Music from the prestigious McGill University in Canada. Brian is equally adept with children and adults and can teach a wide variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, blues, and other popular styles of music.
Lana received her degree in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from the Moscow State Conservatory (P.I. Tchaikovsky) and was given highest honors qualifying her as an Education Specialist. A recipient of the STEINWAY TOP TEACHER designation, Lana is a member of the Central New York Association of Music Teachers and Teachers of Young Students in Syracuse (TOYSS). Her creative and versatile teaching process, using the latest materials and methods, is individualized based on age and ability, providing a well-rounded musical education.
Terrilyn hails from a family of educators in Saratoga Springs, where her mother has taught piano for many years. Terrilyn holds a Master of Education and a Bachelor degree in Music from Russell Sage College and continues to study with top piano pedagogists. Equally adept in teaching children or adults, Terrilyn focuses on developing a strong foundation of music theory and technique in order to foster lifelong musicianship, while keeping students inspired with personalized music selections.
Emery studied at SUNY Potsdam at the Crane School of Music and received her bachelor's degree in Music Industry from SUNY Oneonta. Talented in multiple instruments, she performed in All County/Area All State Bands, NYSSMA, piano recitals, and occasionally filling in as a pianist at various churches. Emery is looking forward to growing her studio at Artist Pianos and sharing her love and knowledge of music.
Joe draws on over 30 years of experience as a professional musician and uses the latest piano education technology to teach all styles of popular music, focusing on each student's favorite music. In order to offer maximum flexibility, Joe's gives one-hour lessons every other week, enabling students to accomplish more during the lesson and have more time to practice between lessons.
Sophia is currently on the music faculty at the College of St. Rose and has over a decade of experience teaching all ages and levels. She holds a Master of Music degree in piano performance at Manhattan School of Music and received her Bachelor of Music in piano performance from Indiana University. Sophia grew up with two professional pianists as parents and as a professional musician, she has traveled and performed on three continents. As an educator, she works to instill a lifelong musical curiosity in her students.
James has been teaching students of all ages for over 25 years. He received his Master of Music and Music Education from Syracuse University and did his post graduate work at the Eastman School of Music. James has served as president of the Central New York Association of Music Teachers, Suzuki Teachers and Teachers of Young Students. He is a New York State Certified teacher and is also certified by the Yamaha Corporation to present group instruction to senior adults.
