Acoustic Pianos

A piano needs to do three things for a student to be successful. Find out what...

The acoustic pianos of today stem from a tradition of over 300 years of advancements in physics, mathematics, metallurgy, and botany. For those seeking an instrument that will inspire them for a lifetime, nothing compares to the natural singing tone of a well made acoustic piano. Remember that, with nearly 20 tons of cumulative string tension and roughly 700 pounds of pressure bearing down on the soundboard, good design and premium materials are of great importance. The acoustic piano lines we carry, Yamaha, Schimmel, and Perzina are carefully selected for their superior design, materials, and craftsmanship, so we can have the same confidence in recommending them as you can have in selecting them.

Digital Pianos

Since 1997, digital pianos have outsold acoustic pianos nationwide and we think this a good thing. Digital pianos represent a much better investment than used pianos and they offer educational benefits that no acoustic piano can provide. When shopping for used pianos because of their lower price, remember to factor in the cost of tunings: roughly $200 a year. That's $1000 in maintenance fees over the first five years of ownership! Digital pianos are maintenance free, because they are always in perfect tune. See our Yamaha Clavinova page for more information about the best-selling digital piano on the market.

Player Pianos

Player pianos have never been more popular! Watch the keys go up and down and enjoy "live" performances through a huge software library of your favorite tunes. The Yamaha Disklavier is designed with state-of-the-art technology that offers many educational benefits for beginners, and also offers arranging and recording features for intermediate and expert players.

Used Pianos

Pianos are built to last, but they are not built to last forever. At Artist Pianos, our professional piano technicians check every trade-in and consignment piano from top to bottom. Once they are satisfied a piano has maintained its structural integrity, and will meet customer's expectations, it receives a warranty and a full value trade up guarantee. Pianos that do not meet those qualifications simply are not sold. Check out our online listing of great used pianos. If you are in the market for a used piano, we also recommend that beginners consider a digital piano as an alternative to a used piano or check out our options on a rental piano.
