Meet our Staff:
Grace Giordano, Manager
Grace has been at Artist Pianos of Buffalo since the doors opened in August 2004. Although she does not play piano herself, Grace has spent the interim years studying every aspect of the piano, from tone and touch to nuts and bolts. Grace was fortunate enough to tour her first piano factory in summer of 2007. At that time she visited the Vogel factory in Kalisz, Poland, the Schimmel cabinet factory in Liepzeg, Germany and the Schimmel piano factory in Braunschweig. Seeing the piano building process in person was truly a thrilling experience for Grace.
D.J. Michael, Sales
David Michael began piano lessons at the age of six, studying with noted Buffalo pianists Ruslana Antonowicz and Claudia Hoca, and continuing at Cornell University where he majored in music, specializing in the performance techniques and construction of authentic period instruments of the 18th and 19th centuries under the tutelage of renowned fortepianist Malcolm Bilson. David has extensive knowledge of the classical piano repertoire, the musical community, and piano construction and technology.
An 'aficionado' of fine pianos, David owns two vintage, Buffalo-built Kurtzmann pianos, a Yamaha Clavinova digital piano, and a Yamaha C3 grand. When asked about his own choice in pianos, David stated, "I bought my first Yamaha in 1991, when I lived in Silicon Valley working in the computer industry. After trying over 40 different new, used, and rebuilt Steinways, I just felt that none of them offered the precise feel and brilliant tone of the Yamaha Conservatory Series."
Ryan R. Heckl, Sales
Ryan R. Heckl has been part of the Artist Pianos team since the summer of 2006. "As a developing musician, I believe that my time spent here at Artist Pianos, has truly been a good learning experience. With the guidance and patience of my fellow sales associates, I have become knowledgeable with the features and benefits of Yamaha Pianos. "As I continue to pursue my career in music, I play on wide variety of pianos of all brands, sizes and shapes. I strongly feel Yamaha Pianos represent a gold standard of consistent performance because the sound, structure, and overall integrity of the Yamaha is vastly superior to any other brand of piano."
Ryan has earned an Associates Degree in Music at Villa Maria College. Currently, Ryan is pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Music Education, Music Composition, and studying piano with Phyllis East at the State University of New York at Fredonia. In addition to working as a part-time Sales Associate at Artist Pianos LTD., Ryan is involved with the Sacred Heart Music Ministry at Sacred Heart Parish, in Bowmansville, New York. Furthermore, Ryan continues to provide his music services at Wedding Ceremonies, Wedding Receptions, Funeral Services, and several other events throughout the Western New York area.
