Meet our Staff:
Paul Jennings
Manager
Paul has over 12 years of experience in the piano business. He has toured the Yamaha factories in Japan as well as the factories of Steinway & Sons, Mason & Hamlin, and Baldwin here in the US and received product training from nearly all the current major piano manufacturers. His love for pianos shows in his knowledge about the instrument and the industry (but don't let the suit fool you, he can wail on those keys like Jerry Lee Lewis). He is a member of Rotary International and the Music Teacher's National Association, serving the local New York State Music Teacher's Association District 6.
Douglas Melanson
Sales
Douglas has been with Artist Pianos since 2002. His love of music has expressed itself through a broad range of experiences in the music industry. As a recording assistant at an independent record label, Douglas worked with many different kinds of musicians and learned how to ask questions and listen carefully to determine how to capture the sound they wanted and to bring out their best performance. He uses these same communication skills now to match people with pianos. He has studied electric bass, trumpet, and is currently studying piano.
Carl Treiber
Piano Technician
Carl is a professional piano tuner and technician and an Associate Member of the Piano Technician's Guild. With many years of experience in the piano business, he has received extensive product training from Yamaha and many other top piano brands. Carl holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the College of St. Rose and, in addition to being a great technician, is a talented jazz pianist.
Jonathan Cohen
Piano Technician
Email:
Jonathan attended Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1986 where he studied electric bass, composition, film scoring, and music education. He has been a professional piano technician and member of the Piano Technicians Guild since 1995. His training included a three-year apprenticeship under Master Rebuilder, Rand Reeves and he attended Yamaha's Little Red Schoolhouse technical training program. As a professional musician, Jonathan has shared the stage with a venerable "who's who" of Capital Region Musicians. He was voted Best Bassist in 2001 by Metroland Magazine.
Steve Ostrander
Piano Technician
Steve is a graduate of the American School of Piano Tuning and is an associate member of the PTG. He began tuning his own piano while still in high school in the 1970's, initially learning from books and from closely observing a professional piano tuner. By age 20, he started his own part-time piano tuning business. In the 1990's, after being downsized by a major electronics company, Steve took his business full-time. Steve specializes in tuning by ear, repair, and minor reconditioning of acoustic pianos. In addition, he is the only piano technician in the Albany area that still repairs Wurlitzer and Rhodes electric pianos. Steve plays many instruments, including all keyboard instruments, guitar, bass, and drums. He has been married for over 20 years and has 2 daughters.
